Such a simple phrase that holds so much meaning to me. I started using it regularly in 2003 when I first journeyed to Tempe, AZ to begin my Freshman year at Arizona State University, leaving all behind in Austin, TX. Twas a journey indeed! My phrase “AND IT BEGINS…” was used often. I’m sure as I grow more comfortable with this blogging adventure, some of these purely awesome stories will surface 🙂

Fast forward to 2013 (I’m not doing the math, I’M NOT DOING THE MATH – holy crap that’s a decade!!!)!! Through all the “beginnings”, I’ve grown into the lovely lil’ lady that I am (you can laugh, I know I did), and now I am excited to share with you my most effective lifestyle change yet – Cooking in the Raw! Well that’s what I’m calling it now since it fits with my blog name. Which, by the way, was not easy to create. First I thought, “Magan’s Meals” but that’s too similar to Mel’s Meals. And Scott likes the word “Primal”, but not ALL of my cooking is considered Primal, or Paleo, although many recipes will fall into these categories. It IS “clean eating” but that doesn’t sound cool with “Magan” or “Red” or “Recipes”, etc. So once Red’s Recipes in the Raw formed in my brain, I held onto it like a teddy bear!
Speaking of a teddy bear you want to hold onto forever – I would like to get a special “Thanks” out there… if it was not for my loving, supportive fiance, Scott, who believes in me and motivates me more than anything I have ever felt, I would not have the drive to even begin educating myself on real ways to eat for a better life, let alone begin cooking these meals, and even more so creating a place to submit these recipes for others to enjoy as well. Being a middle child, I’m not a very good sharer, so that is just one of the uncountable ways he has made me a better person 😉
And we both wear neon-colored clothing.
As this is my first practice post, please be nice. The next one will include an actual recipe, promise!
